OMG
I've got PINK EYE!

How'd I get this?? My kids don't have it...no one else I know has it. How'd I get it?? HUH?? PINK EYE! It HURTS!!!

So - forgive me for a quick mommy-blog moment - but check this picture of my daughter out:

Here's the before and after pictures. That HAD to have hurt...

So what do I do with Pink Eye? Does it just go away or what? None of my kids have ever had it before. So I don't know what to do!!! It was so gross, this morning my eye was sealed shut, and I had to put a warm washcloth on it to get it open. And it's all swollen. I look like Popeye. And now my OTHER eye is starting to hurt as well. But hey - that's an excuse... huh? I can call my boss Monday morning and say - "Sorry! I can't open my eyes so I won't be in today!" ow ow ow... HELP ME!!

Ugh, pink eye is no fun!

My mom's cure -- which I swear really does work -- is to wash your eye with Johnson's Baby Shampoo. Do it three times a day and it should clear up in a day or two.

If it's bad though, you have to go to the doctor and get the gross eye cream goop. I hate touching my eyes so the eye cream grosses me out to no end, but it does kill the infection quite nicely.

    Good luck with it.

I don't know about the baby shampoo, but I'll vouch for the eye cream.

It didn't gross me out, though, but I had to put eye cream in my eye daily for a while when I was a kid. Take that for what it's worth.

When I was in high school I had conjunctivitis (sp?) in both of my eyes. I don't remember whether I had an eye cream goop or oral antibiotics but I do remember a doctor visit and the pain. Oh yeah and having to open my eyes with warm wash cloths. If you wear contacts it can very easily spread from one eye to the other. That is how I ended up with it in both of my eyes but it did get me a week off from school. It is very gross. It is very contagious so I hope none of your family gets it. (very thorough hand washing of anything after any kind of contact with your eyes is advisable to avoid spreading it) Hope you feel better and that it goes away soon.

Don't put contacts in right now - the contacts will become infected and you will have to throw them away.

Nix the baby shampoo - although it's gentle if the eyes are accidentally exposed, its not a good idea to put soap in your eyes.

There are creams or eye drops, and your eyes are probably a little light sensitive so good sunglasses are an idea.

All the best to getting rid of this

Why don't you try soaking some cotton in a cold tea (without sugar, lol) and wash your eye with it.
my grandmother used to do it all the time and it worked always.

    Otherwise try the nearest doctor.

I have to agree with Stewie. Use the cream from the doctor and in a couple of days it is alot better.
    Wish you well quick.

    Peace

It's actually conjunctivitis and the doctor will give you drops for it that will take it away PDQ!

Maybe you got it from the hotel sheets. Maybe you left crappy tips and the maid wiped her infected eyeball on your sheets to get back at you.

I should have mentioned yesterday that pink eye is highly contagious so you should not use the same towels as the rest of your family.

Lesley - Thx! i tried the OTC medicated eye drops... it seems to be clearing up - but my eye is still itchy... just not pink anymore!!

Stewie - The idea of putting "creams" into my eye just weirds me out. I'm going to try the medicated drops for awhile! (and thx for the remedy linkage!)

Asterismos - Lucky for me I don't wear contacts!!!

Rachel - yeah - sunglasses are a must right now. If only to hide my popeye Eye...

Dari - strangly enough - the idea of cool tea on my eye sounds refreshing. So is it Lipton, or Nestea, or Earl Grey?? WHAT KIND!!? Also - is it chamomile, or green tea... ?? LOL

Greg - oh sure. You guys always stick together. Stewie could have told me to dig my eyeball out with a rusty spoon, and you'd agree with him!!! LOL

Sandra - Conjunti-whatis? I can pronounce Pink Eye better!! LOL

Freak Magnent - ut oh. Tipping? I DIDN'T TIP THE HOTEL MAID!! That place cost $233/day. I bet they get paid. But interestingly enough - my eye was sore on Friday. Hey - wait a minute. you know what? Doesn't that picture on my blog show Stewie's tongue suspiciously close to my eye? i'll bet I got some freaky disease off him....

Hotdudi - LOL!! Freak is VERY imaginative, and quiet...(until she uses her man voice) a very lethal combination. Gotta watch out for her.

Sandra - I've been walking around with antibacterial hand stuff... before I touch my kids I decontaminate myself!!
