norm, seriously - you really DO need to go to the podiatrist and likely have minor surgery on that toe of yours. my husband (a paramedic) also had one and tried to "fix" it himself, and it got horribly infected very deep in the tissue. if it's not "dug out" properly (and you'll probably need stitches, as my husband did) it will prolly keep coming back. for serious. sorry!!!!

The only thing that hurts about the surgery is the numbing, and that's not THAT bad. And once it's done, you don't have to worry about it ever again. Plus, it's easier to paint your nails because it's not going down into the sides of your toe. Just go. You'll be glad you did in the end.
And I don't remember if you get to wear a little bootie, but I DO remember you get to soak your foot in this AWESOME foot bath.

You're supposed to go to the podiatrist and have your toenail surgically cut at the root so it doesn't happen again. I don't miss that pain one bit.
